Use of Licensed Antivirus: Never use trail or Cracked version of any Antivirus Software because many of the features are not available with such antivirus and whenever a Virus attack occurs it simply report you and take no action.

How to Install Antivirus: This is the most important point that most of the people miss to explain that what the correct way to install an Antivirus Software is. Here are the simple rules:

               a)       Always install Antivirus on Freshly installed Operating System Only.

               b)       After Installing Operating System never install any Application Software or driver and first go  with antivirus software.

               c)       After Installing Antivirus, Update and Scan your System for Viruses.

               d)      When Antivirus is updated and a system is fully scanned than go with rest of the installation.

               e)      Never use Un Scanned Pen Drive or any other media to install antivirus software.

Regular Update of Antivirus Software: It not only sufficient to just install the Antivirus Software but it is also important to update its Virus Signature Database. It is a file that is updated by the antivirus software provider company according to the latest viruses raised in the market.

If your Antivirus Virus Signature Database is outdated it will not detect recent viruses and your system will be easily attacked.

Disable Auto run: as per Virus definition it is clear that virus is a malware program that when executed replicates itself to other executable programs, files of boot sectors of Hard disk drive. To avoid this you must also turn off auto execution of external storage devices such as memory card or pen drive etc.

You can use following to turn off automatic updates in windows 7:

              1.       Open AutoPlay by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type autoplay, and then click AutoPlay.

              2.       Do one of the following:

              o    To turn AutoPlay on, select the Use AutoPlay for all media and devices check box.

              o    To turn AutoPlay off, clear the Use AutoPlay for all media and devices check box.

              3.       Click Save.

Operating System: Since Microsoft Windows is a very popular system and almost each and every person uses this due to this reason most of the virus attacks are on this operating system as compared to Mac or Linux like Operating systems.

Never use any external device without scanning.
