Difference Between Windows 8 and Windows 8.1

It is enhanced version of windows 8 operating system.
Start Button
Start Button is not Present in Windows 8.
Start Button is restored to task bar in Windows 8.1 to open start screen.
App  Snapping
Only two app can be snapped onto a single display.
4 Applications can be snapped onto a single display depending upon screen size.
Message App
Message App is available in Windows 8.
Message is Replaced by Skype, which allows users to accept calls directly from lock screen.

Text/GUI Scaling
Windows 8 can scale text and GUI elements up to 150 %.
Windows 8.1 can scale text and GUI elements up to 200%.
Adoption Rate
Current Adoption rate for Windows 8 is 6.41%.
Current Adoption Rate for Windows 8.1 is 4.89 %.
3D Printing
3D Printing Apps is not present in Windows 8.
Windows 8.1 adds support for 3D Printing.
Hardware Compatibility
64 Bit version of windows 8 supports all 64 bit processors.
64 Bit versions of Windows 8.1 do not support s processors which do not implement the double width compare and exchange CPU Instructions.
Personalization options
Personalization options could be found under PC Settings but it allowed less colors and less control.
Windows 8.1 also adds quite a few new personalization options. It not only gives more options, it does it from within the Start Screen.
Sky Drive
In Windows 8 SkyDrive app was limited and was able to read files only.
In windows 8.1 sky drive is much more powerful. It can read/write, and even has automatic photo and video backup options.
